Remembering Central Coast Artist John Landon

It has been said that someone you've never met in person can make a big impact on your life. Well, I've found this out firsthand in my social media interactions with John Landon. We became friends on facebook in 2011 and the rest is history as they say. Like many of our facebook friends it's not surprising that I really knew very little about him; only what he chose to share publicly.

It wasn't until my battle with throat cancer ended in 2014 that we started to correspond with any frequency. He was very supported with what I had gone through and he gave me encouragement through Bible quotes and sharing his current artworks. Boy was I surprised when out of the blue he gifted me with an original colorful abstract portrait of me. His generous gift was proof of the kind soul he possessed.

As time passed we drifted apart and made contact on rare occasions, and only by chance did I discover his recent passing after being injured in a car accident. One time he shared with me these words, "God is with us all the time Tanya, we can die at any time."
So with a sad heart I shared this memorial post in remembrance of his kind spirit.

This is a photo of me wearing my portrait on a t-shirt I made. I will treasure it always!

Now, I could end there but there is more to the story. After being told I was free of throat cancer I wanted to celebrate with a monthly cover called 'Tanya'. The problem was that I had no idea how to go about making a cover until John came to the rescue. He gave me the first layout template and the rest is history!  Now I am a magazine cover making machine.  Below is a photograph of my very first 'Tanya' cover, after that I was on my own! Bless his soul and may he rest in peace with the Lord. We never know who the Lord will send into our lives to bless us.

August 20, 2018 Introduction to my EyesOnUDetroit Magazine Blog

EyesOnDetroit  Magazine August 2018

Hello again. I am really challenging myself this August! Not only am I restarting this blog, but initiating my magazine as a blog. Let me introduce you to  EyesOnUDetroit Magazine and and this blog's sister blog site.

Here I am featured on a recent cover for August 2018, and boy has this Summer flown by. I do not have a set amount of covers that I shoot for. If I am inspired than I will make a cover. The purpose of this particular cover is to encourage the public to get out and vote. The election process is an opportunity to have your voice heard and to make a difference in how our government is run.Or at least that's what it is suppose to be.

This next cover is actually my very first cover from July 13th, 2017. It features a fantastic local artist by the name of Sanda Cook.
EyesOnUDetroit  Features Artist Sanda Cook, July 2017
She is a very talented and prolific artist. Just google her name and you will find tons information about her and her art.

I now have over 200 covers after starting my magazine only a year ago! Right now I am in the process of compiling those covers on to the EyesOnUDetroit blog. It is a daunting project and very time consuming...meanwhile I am publishing more covers! My failure at not being more efficient is partially due to my ongoing health challenges, but I thank God for giving me the motivation to expand my audience.
I am going to be playing catch-up to 2018 covers for a while, and I decided to just go simple and maybe put more information in the posts at a later date, God willing. As the Bible says, we can make our plans but the Lord determines our steps.

Proverbs 16:9 Names of God Bible (NOG)
9 A person may plan his own journey,
but Yahweh directs his steps.

Please check out my Magazine images and I promise to do my best to add informational links once all previous covers are uploaded. Blessings.

Tanya Britt eyesonuphoto is Back! And it's August 15, 2018

I'm Still Here

Today is August 15, 2018, and I am back! Five years cancer free, but since my treatment I have been technologically timid; I was inspired today to to try to become a blogger again. Throat cancer caught me quite by surprise to say the least, but by the grace of God I am still here!

To be frank, I was mislead by my physicians that I would be 100% cured by my treatments for advanced throat cancer. What they don't tell you is all the other damage that these same treatments will cause to your body, besides the threat of other cancers from the use of chemotherapy and radiation concurrently. So I have been taking one day at a time and I am reassured that God is in control.

How Did I Get Throat Cancer?

Heck if I know. Five years ago I couldn't believe it was happening to me, today after waking up to all the deception of processed food being safe, I wonder why I hadn't gotten sick sooner! Back then my diet was terrible, and the value of proper nutrition escaped me. Still, I have never been a smoker or drinker, so throat cancer had been the least of my worries. I went through some pretty dark times, and I've posted some documentary videos on my personal experience.

My Experience Briefly Explained

During that summer in June 2013, I was living a nightmare that had no escape. Now after recovering I know some of my physicians could have made me more comfortable, but they didn't. And Looking back I felt like some type of science experiment; Smiles and a white coat and stethoscope don't guarantee you have a healthcare worker who gives a sh**t about your suffering, recovery, or survival.

Just to be clear I was, and still am, under the care of more than one doctor, and so I am not pointing a finger at anyone in particular. What I will say is for anyone diagnosed with cancer, or any illness, get on your mobile device or laptop, and do some research on your own. Ask for a copy of your tests, you're entitled to the first copy free, and make sure you are fully participating in your treatment and recovery. Do that, and most importantly pray through it all. No matter what you are told, remember God has the finally say.

A New Beginning

Every day you are blessed to wake up, is a new beginning. So you have aches, pains, and threats of looming disaster in many long term side effects the treatment of an illness; try to take the focus off of you and turn it on to others. Praise God through it all. Life is tough, but our God is tougher. I'm back and I'm better than I ever was because I no longer have a casual relationship with God. My eyes have been opened to the messed up world we live in. I am seeing things more clearly than I ever have before and so I am gong to trust the Lord in every new beginning that is before me.

Imagery Explained

Experimenting in Photoshop editing and I came up with this effect for my selfie. I like it! And I'm excited to continue creating and sharing on this blog. I will try not to disappear for another 3 years! Blessings!

"Wow! A lot has happened in my life since my last post in 2013! I didn't think it would be so easy to sign into my blog after so much time had past.  Thank you, Google for making it so easy!

I fought and won my battle with advanced throat cancer. Unbelievable that I even was diagnosed with the disease.  I made a video documenting my journey, check it out!" -

My Videos Spotlighting Detroit, MI

June 8, 2013

I have been featuring my videos of Detroit, MI in my Examiner.com articles for a while now.  If you missed them, check out my Youtube Channel.

The Youtube channel has been given a new layout and format that I do not particularly care for, but I've discovered that most of these online sites do not care what the user prefers.  They make changes without notice and without giving the users any choice in the changes.
I guess "the customer is always right" is a thing of the past. It has changed to, "the customer has no right".  Heehee! Sad but true.

Here are two of my most recent uploads on to Eyesonuphoto Art's Channel

It has been some time since I posted, so let me catch you up. =)

I graduated from Wayne State University on May 9, 2013. Yea!!  I now have a  Fine Art Bachelor's in Photography with a Minor in Media Arts.

In May, I was also diagnosed with a serious illness, but my prognosis looks good. Treatment will begin soon, and I have a several difficult weeks a head of me this Summer.

I am excited about my new series on Examiner.com, "Meet The Artist".  My title is Detroit Life in Photos which is categorized under  Detroit Neighborhoods and  Places and Faces, allows me to spotlight local artist.  Places and Faces is such a broad title I may venture into spotlighting International artists that I admire.

Happy 2013!!! It's proving to be a very interesting year so far!

Where does the time go? It is already February 1, 2013!

Quick update. I was so busy with classes during the Fall of 2012, I did not have time to post.  I also haven't updated my official website, http://eyesonuphotoart.com/

I am still writing for examiner.com, when I have time, and I am still trying to complete my BFA in Photography at Wayne State University. I have one stumbling block I have to deal with this year.

I aced my Critical Thinking Course; This was unexpectedly difficult. Truth Tables? Hun?  What's that? Very confusing stuff.  Never thought of 'Critical Thinking' as turning sentences into math problems!!!

The following info is from Wikipedia.

Truth table for most commonly used logical operators
Here is a truth table giving definitions of the most commonly used 6 of the 16 possible truth functions of 2 binary variables (P,Q are thus boolean variables):
P Q P \and QP \or QP \underline{\or} QP \underline{\and} QP \Rightarrow QP \Leftarrow QP \iff Q
TTTTFTTTT
TFFTTFFTF
FTFTTFTFF
FFFFFTTTT

Yikes!!!
Well I am that much closer to getting my BFA in photography with a minor in media arts.  I am more than ready for new adventures in 2013. :)

Now it is time to play catch up with my blog!
